(7/7/2006) «Panathinaikos and Euroleague's final four are a big challenge for me» After spending three years abroad, two in Spain playing for Pamesa Valencia and one in Russia playing for CSKA Moscow, Dimos Dikoudis returns to Greece, where he will be player of Panathinaikos for the next two years. Dimos signed his contract and will help Panathinaikos to win the next season's Euroleague trophy in the final four, which will be held in OAKA, Athens. Shortly after he signed the contract, Dikoudis spoke about his new team, the reasons why he came back, the fans of Panathinaikos, Zeljko Obradovic and the national team. «I am happy for being a member of Panathinaikos. It is one of the top european clubs, having won a lot of trophies and with a very important history. Above all, though, it's a team that fulfils my ambition. After spending three years abroad I decided to come back, because Panathinaikos has made me a very good offer and has built a very strong team wirh big goals as well». Next season's big target for Panathinaikos is Euroleague's final four, which will be held in OAKA, Athens. «Panathinaikos as well as Euroleague's final four are a big challenge for me. I believe that we'll build a very strong team, which will go till the end in Euroleague», said Dimos, who also thanked the owners and the coach of the team: «I'd like to thank the owners and the coach of Panathinaikos, because they trust me and insisted a lot in my signing. I've never worked with mr. Obradovic, but the players of the team told me the best about him and I believe that we'll work very well together». Dimos also refered to the fans: «I'd like to thank the fans of Panathinaikos, too, because they expressed their love to me all these years that I was abroad and didn't stop calling me to come to their favourite team. I promise them that I'll do my best to achive, with my teamates, every goal of Panathinaikos this season». Finally, Dikoudis talked about the national team, which starts today in Karpenisi the training camps for the World Championship in Japan. «I feel honoured to be once again a member of the national team. We start the training camps for the World Championships. I am very happy to see again all the guys and live the atmosphere of Belgrade. I think we've got a very strong team and our goal in Japan is high. Right now we have to work hard, though, we have to be healthy and if this happens, then everything will come». Back |
