(5/22/2006) «Pamesa is a big team and must not be out of the play offs» Pamesa couldn't have a place in the play offs of Liga ACB, despite Dimos Dikoudis' and his teamates effort. Season is over for Dimos, who is back in Greece for having some rest before he'll join the National Team for the World Championships. Dikoudis opened his heart and talked about Valencia, the next day of his career the greek league and the national team. «I think that this season had two faces for Valencia. One was completely different from the other. While playing well, we were in the first place of the standings and performed nice basketball. We stopped playing well after the final of Coppa del Ray against Tau Ceramica. After January we showed a completely different face. The team started playing much more worse than it could and some decisions were made and proved wrong. We had problems with the second American player and there were some other changes in the roster as well. During the whole second round the tema was looking for rythm and finally it didn't make it. It's easy to fail in the spanish league. We didn't performed well for a month and we found ourselves fighting for a place in the play offs. That changed the team's moral. I saw that many of my teamates were dissapointed and we weren't playing with the determination we had in the beginning of the season. Finally we didn't make it for the play offs, which means that we failed. But, even if we had qualified, we couldn't have succeed anything special, since we didn't have good mentality and didn't play good basketball Pamesa is a big team in Spain. Many things must change, because it's a pitty not to play in play offs». Right now Dimos needs some rest. «All I need now is to have some rest. To charge my battery and prepare myself for the national team. I'm not thinking anything else right now», explains the greek power forward, who wants to compete again in Eurolegue. «I missed Euroleague. And the reason I chose to stay out of it this year was because I wanted to come back to it with Pamesa! Since this is not possible any more I'll try to find a team which will lay in Euroleague next season». The ex player of Pamesa Valencia talked about the greek league and the big battle of Panathinaikos against Olympiacos. «Panathinaikos and Olympiacos are big teams. They fulfil every player's ambitions and I wish that other teams will be as competitve as these two are in order to improve the quality of the greek league. Panathinaikos and Olympiacos are in the same level with every big european team». Dimos also talked about the greek national team's games in the World Championships in Japan. «I talk with my teamates in the national team and we are all looking forward to be together again, as we lived great moments last Septmeber. Although we are playing in different countries, we have already started thinking the national team. There is a very important tournament in front of us. Don't forget that we didn't participated in the previous World Championships. In Japan we'll meet the best basketball players in the world. What we have to do is to go there very well prepared. We have a good team and we must play as we know». Back
